Winter On Fire: Interview with Evgeny Afineevsky

David and Adam were very excited to have the opportunity to sit down with director Evgeny Afineevsky, creator of the Academy Award nominated documentary, Winter On Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom.

Evgeny talks with us about his early aspirations growing up in the Soviet Union, his move to Israel and his work up until the day he received a call about a student protest that was just beginning to form in Kiev, Ukraine.

Despite the difficult conditions, Evgeny explains how inspiring it was to be in the middle of such a historic moment and the incredible unity he felt with people from every class, race and religion who took the brave stand for freedom 2 years ago.

We were honored to have a chance to hear this story from someone who not only was there, but took the initiative to record the Euromaidan uprising for posterity.  Not only do we get to hear first-hand the story behind the incredible images we see in Winter On Fire, but also about some of the most memorable events that weren’t able to make it into the film.

You can follow Evgeny on twitter @evgeny_director and visit the show at netfreaks.tv
